Why the heck do so many people think that there are only two software development methodologies, agile and waterfall, and that they are a strict binary duality?

The funny thing is waterfall wasn’t evena methodology that was being proposed so much as it was an accidental codification of a strawman shitty way to do things, which caught on instead of the thing actually being proposed
