Hi friendos, here's a reminder that furries and otherkin are valid.
I think this continues to be a good read: https://medium.com/@keisisqrl/dear-fellow-trans-people-lay-off-otherkin-9787ccf6725c
LB: even if you don't believe that an otherkin identity can be "real," it is a very helpful means for a lot of people to process their gender identity through a lens of something that doesn't feel so socially-unacceptable.
I speak from experience on this, and being shouted down about the validity of my identity in the 90s did nobody any favors.
The colors you see and the sounds you hear and the flavors you taste are interpolated from very limited information by your brain. Much of our lived and shared experience is based on abstractions and concepts that we just sorta vaguely agree upon.
I don't believe in souls but I do believe in the ability for someone to identify with something outside of themselves, and that this can be beneficial and important for a sense of identity and for one's well-being.
@fluffy i think a lot of the time people get hung up on "true" when whether it's true is irrelevant. if something is true but not useful, well, it's useless. if something is helpful, who cares if it's true.
that's the case here and also for a lot of other things
A silly instance of Mastodon for queer folk and non-queer folk alike. Let's be friends!
