In other news, I'm giving FreeBSD a go on my home machines. I have it installed on a spare hard drive in my gaming PC, and I'm planning to install it on my spare laptop too.

It's still early days, but so far my experience has been positive. XFCE and the Epiphany browser also seems to be an excellent combination.


It's definitely new ground for me. I think last time I tried this variant of UNIX, I installed OpenBSD on an old Apple iBook G4 three years ago. I wrote a blog post about it:

FreeBSD is one of those operating systems I've wanted to try for a loooooong time. Now the stars have aligned because my modern hardware is compatible.
