if you never had a furby, and I did, i invite you to consider two things:
1) the whirring and *clicking* of what I imagine are dozens of tiny plastic gears inside the thing whenever it moves
2) the smell that went along with these little plastic lumps. it was a burnt smell
these were not things that made an impression on me when my parents (then middle-class enough to buy us stuff like that) got them for my siblings and me, or at least not in my forebrain. but now... i remember.
@LilyVers I don't remember the smell as burnt, but it was that plastic gear smell.
@LilyVers They made the voices really loud to try and cover the plastic gears whirring
