My favourite cutlery set ever are starting to go rusty :( does anyone have recommendations for something that looks similar?

the main thing I really like is the thin, straight, round handle. I hate flat handles with wide bulbous ends 😅

they were originally from ikea but it was like 20 years ago and I don't remember the name ☹️

@Averixus I don't have an answer to your question, but could it be worth removing the rust with citric acid or similar?

@ferrous my friend just suggested that too, I don't totally know how stainless steel works.. I've been assuming that if the surface has become damaged enough to rust that the process is irreversible? a few of them are also getting damage that doesn't totally look like rust but looks like weirdly blackened spots 🧐

@Averixus I don't think you should assume that it's become irreversible.

If it's stainless steel, it'll only ever rust slowly - although it may be that it was also coated with something even more rust-resistant, I think think most stainless steel cutlery isn't.

@Averixus the black spots will probably be a different oxide, and are likely to come off (slowly) in acid as well.
